When was the last time you cleaned your oven? Don’t remember? Don’t worry, I’ve forgotten too. In fact, cleaning my oven is never first on my list of things to do.
When I finally did get around to cleaning it… ok, well when my husband told me to buy oven cleaner because HE was going to do it… I discovered some things about oven cleaners that I did NOT LIKE.
Namely, they’re crazy strong chemicals and I don’t want them in my house, let alone near my food, or anywhere that I want to be breathing the same air.
So. I went looking for alternatives.
What I found was a simple recipe, just bicarb soda and water made into a spray. You leave it to dry in the oven, you just keep using the oven as normal. Then you wipe it out and it’s like magic.
Seriously.
Best part? It’s totally safe to do while pregnant or around little ones, unlike those other chemicals you feel like you need a Hazmat suit, gas mask, and Kevlar gloves to even touch.
Natural Oven Cleaner Recipe
Ingredients:
- Bicarb soda
- Water
Add ¼ cup of bicarb soda to a spray bottle and fill with water until well mixed. Spray to coat the inside of the oven. Leave to dry (you can simply use the oven as normal).
Wipe clean.
That’s it. It’s that easy.
Don’t believe me?
Neither did my husband!
I think I’ve mentioned before that I can be a bit lazy. So, when I sprayed my oven, I didn’t quite get around to wiping it for a few days, ok, weeks.
But, it worked really well and looks good as new!
