Christmas is fast approaching! Are you wrapped up in thoughts of cozy, family traditions that you’re going to start? One thing you might want to try is the keepsake Christmas bauble.
I like this particular DIY, because you don’t have to be crafty at all. I’ve failed miserably with the handprint type that requires salt dough and baking in the oven (they always go mouldy).
With this DIY, you simply pick out your favorite baby items from the year, get a clear plastic Christmas bauble and fill it.
I filled mine with my little one’s baby hat, hospital tags and a print out of his sonogram. Artistically arranged, it looks beautiful! And so meaningful! It’s an ornament I’ll cherish each time I bring it out.

What you need to make your own:
- Clear (plastic) Christmas Bauble (this size works well)
- Keepsake items – for example, baby hat, baby socks, hospital tags, pacifier, sonogram print out… anything that fits!
- If your baby is on the way – add a sonogram print out, a mini baby shower invite, a print out of your pregnancy announcement…
- Glitter, tinsel or other pretty additions (optional!)
How to Assemble
It’s so easy to make this, you probably don’t even need me to tell you how I did it!
First, have a look at what you want to put inside the bauble. Are there any larger items that can sit at the bottom to make a sort of ‘nest’ for the other items so they don’t get lost?
I put my baby’s hat right down the bottom and arranged it so that I could rest the sonogram picture against it and the back wall of the bauble. I popped the hospital tags on top of the hat.
Make It A Tradition!
Why not do this every year? Each year, fill a new clear bauble with something memorable from your little one’s life. When the kids get older, they can choose their own fillings!
