Paleo lactation smoothie recipe – decadent and delicious real food smoothie for breastfeeding moms.
Lactation smoothies are a convenient and delicious way to keep your milk supply up by getting the nutrients you need!
Lactating moms know how important it is to keep up their supply – and our favorite way is with lactation smoothie recipes. Whip yourself up some breakfast, lunch, dinner-or even an afternoon pick me up when those nursing hungries come knocking at your door; all without sacrificing quality nutrition for taste since these nutritious drinks will fill both hunger requirements as well as provide valuable vitamins and minerals motherhood demands on top of keeping her precious breast milk supply where it should be!
Smoothies are the perfect go-to beverage when you’re craving something light, refreshing and healthy. They can be customized to your exact taste preferences with a variety of fruit options or even protein powder (though this isn’t very paleo). There’s no wrong way to make one!
Some people like their smoothies thick and creamy while others prefer them thinner as they drink it down quickly on the go – both variations have delicious results that will leave everyone satisfied because there is really no “wrong” combination in making this delightful treat!
It’s so easy to make smoothies to your dietary needs too – if you are:
- vegan
- nut-free
- dairy-free
- keto
- paleo
- low carb
- protein-full!
- sugar-free
You can make your smoothie even healthier by including hidden vegetables, protein powder or collagen supplements. You will be surprised that it tastes just as good!
This smoothie is super tasty and PALEO, using only real food ingredients so it’s even better for you.

What’s in my favorite paleo lactation smoothie:
Banana – great for sweetening your smoothie naturally, bananas also help make it super creamy (especially if you take the time to freeze the banana overnight). Bananas contain lots of healthy vitamins and minerals too, like potassium.
Chia Seeds – chock full of Omega 3, these tiny seeds are a nutritional powerhouse. Chia seeds will also blend up well and absorb liquids helping your smoothie be extra creamy and delicious!
Cashew Butter – for healthy fats, use your favorite nut butter (we like cashew butter). It helps make your smoothie thick and creamy.
Brewer’s Yeast (Debittered) – optional! A well known galactagogue (foods that increase milk supply) you can add Brewer’s Yeast into this smoothie once your baby has arrived. The best kind to get is this one, which has been ‘debittered’ as it has a bit of an aftertaste.
These ingredients (plus a few more) when mixed together make a decadent, sweet, paleo smoothie that’s just delicious!

Instructions

Do Lactation Smoothies Work?
The use of lactation smoothies (drinks made specifically to increase milk production or supply) yields mixed results. Their effectiveness is dependent on the mom, her individual circumstances and other factors such as breastfeeding frequency and baby’s ability to latch and remove milk. It’s best to speak with a lactation consultant if you’re having milk supply or breastfeeding issues.
Lactation smoothies are a way to get all the nutrients you need while taking care of your baby. You can make them ahead of time, freeze some in individual bags so they’re ready when needed–or add ingredients for flavor or texture!
When To Start Drinking Lactation Smoothies
You can start drinking lactation smoothies right now!
You might prefer to skip the Brewer’s Yeast because of its after taste (and you don’t really need it if you’re not pregnant, or still nursing). But most lactation smoothies are simply very healthy and packed with nutritious ingredients. You may even find that in spite of first trimester nausea , a drink is something which will keep down – especially when baby starts getting bigger in your third trimester! When stomach space becomes scarce, these smoothie recipes will keep you full, hydrated and add nutrients into your diet.
